De Gecroonde Raep
Opposite of the 'Oude Kerk', the oldest historic building in the city, is a special canal house at Oudeziids Voorburgal 57: De Gecroonde Raep. This building was built in 1615 by Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621) and has an Amsterdam Renaissance style with a stepped gable. During a restoration, it was discovered that the building behind the facade is a house from the end of the 15th century. The building is of great architectural importance and has been owned by the Hendrick de Keyser Association since 1946.
